Boots Pharmacy Closure

Information:

Dear Stennack patients,

As many of our patients will be aware, Boots Pharmacy at Stennack Surgery will be closing their doors on Friday 19 July 2024.

We appreciate the inconvenience this may cause for our patients that currently have Stennack Boots as their nominated Pharmacy.

There are a few options available for patients that have Stennack Boots as their nominated pharmacy:

  • A free delivery service operating out of Boots Penzance and Boots Hayle. This is a free service for eligible patients and can be accessed by speaking to a member of staff at Stennack Boots. To use this service, you will need to either nominate Penzance Boots or Hayle Boots as your nominated pharmacy.
  • A free Postal Service that can be accessed through Boots online. This is for all patients, with delivery via Royal Mail.
  • Pharmacy online – there are various companies offering free repeat prescription management and delivery. A few examples are Pharmacy2U, Chemist Direct, LloydsPharmacy.
  • Nominating another local Community Pharmacy. Other local Community Pharmacies are: Leddra Chemist, 7 Fore Street, St Ives - Carbis Bay Pharmacy, St Ives Road, Carbis Bay - Bodriggy Pharmacy, Queensway - Boots Hayle, West Cornwall Shopping Park - Boots Penzance, Market Jew Street

The easiest way of changing your nominated pharmacy, whether to a local Community Pharmacy, or to one of the online services, is through the NHS App. To change your nominated Pharmacy through the NHS App, please follow these steps:

  1. Register, or sign in, to the NHS App
  2. On the services page, click on ‘request repeat prescriptions
  3. The page you will be directed to should detail your current nominated Pharmacy. Click the link at the bottom of this page ‘change your nominated Pharmacy
  4. Select continue on the next page
  5. You will then have the option of either selecting a ‘High Street Pharmacies’ (like the Community Pharmacies detailed above), or ‘Online-only Pharmacies
  6. Make your preferred selection and select continue (please note, if selecting an online Pharmacy, you will be directed to the NHS Website with further options and instructions).
  7. To search for local High Street Pharmacies, enter your postcode and select your preferred option from the results displayed.
  8. Once you have selected a High Street Pharmacy, you will receive a confirmation message through the NHS App.

For any patients who are unable to access the NHS App or other online services, please either call, or visit Stennack Surgery and speak to a member of Reception staff. Alternatively, please speak to a member of staff at Stennack Boots.

Please be advised, through the time of transition, timescales for processing prescription requests may be delayed whilst other local Community Pharmacies take on the additional demand. The timescales for processing prescription requests through Stennack Surgery, will remain the same and prescriptions requests will be processed within 3 working days.

We appreciate this is a disappointing outcome for all and we will continue to work with NHS England and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Integrated Care Board (ICB) to look at options for alternative pharmacy provision.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Kind regards

Dr Dan Rainbow, Dr Will Webb, Dr Rupert Morrall, Dr Chris Chamberlain, Dr Michael Beswick
